Mehreen Ganny goes digging up the truth about Darwin’s Theory of Evolution
At school, we are taught in science about humans evolving from apes, as part of the Charles Darwin Theory. We are given a simple depiction, in our books, of an ape changing into an early caveman leading to the final state of present-day man. Most of us are not aware that Darwin’s theory contrasts with religion.
In fact, some believe that Charles Darwin’s Theory of Evolution is not in contradiction with religion. This view is due to a failure to grasp the main ideology of Darwinism and the extremely dangerous outlook it authorizes. Allah clarifies in the Quran, “How can you disbelieve in Allah when you were dead and He gave you life? Then He will cause you to die, then bring you to life (again); then unto Him you will return.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:28)
Darwinism proposes that living beings came into being spontaneously, as a result of coincidences. Lifeless chemical compounds came together by chance; and as a result of randomly occurring natural phenomena they formed first the building blocks of life, and ultimately life. As a result, in its core, this claim accepts time, lifeless matter and chance to be creative powers.
Scientific discoveries disprove the evolutionist claims. This is because there are extraordinarily complex examples of design in life.
Even the cell of a living being is a great wonder of design that totally rescinds the concept of “coincidence”.
This superior design and plan in life are certainly indications of Allah’s unique and matchless creation, of His eternal knowledge and might.
The fossil records clearly indicate that distinct living species appeared on earth suddenly fully formed. Each living phylum is created individually with its traits particular to its kind. The most renowned evolutionists had to accept this fact and confess that this provides an evidence for Creation. The evolutionist paleontologist, Mark Czarnecki, acknowledges:
“A major problem in proving the evolution theory, has been the fossil record; the imprints of vanished species preserved in the Earth’s geological formations. This record has never revealed traces of Darwin’s hypothetical intermediate variants – instead species appear and disappear abruptly, and this anomaly has fueled the creationist argument that each species was created by God.”
One must ask the advocates of Darwin’s theory: Why did this world come into being if it had no purpose? Obviously, if they believe that there is no Owner of this life then man is free to act with no sense of accountability either. Whereas, Allah informs mankind of the concepts of life and death in Quran: “On the day when every soul will be confronted with all the good it has done, and all the evil it has done, it will wish there was a great distance between it and its evil…” (Surah Al-Imran 3:30)
As Muslims, we know that the information contained in the Quran is factual, because it comes from the Creator whose knowledge is limitless and absolute. We cannot therefore, abandon it preferring to scientific theory, which is liable to amendment and improvement.
Allah created every species individually and at one moment, with His command of “Be!” Human life on earth started with Prophet Adam (as), who was created of clay and Allah breathed of His spirit into him. Allah decided to appoint him as an ambassador on earth. Adam (as) taught his children to worship Allah alone.
For 150 years, Darwinism provided a scientific ground for all anti-religionist ideologies that caused misery to mankind, such as fascism, communism, and imperialism. During the last fifty years, developments in various scientific fields such as paleontology, microbiology, genetics and comparative anatomy, and new discoveries show that the theory of evolution is untrue. We, as Believers, should assume the responsibility to save societies from such misrepresented and unreal beliefs and warn them.
