Question: I have a younger sister who is always complaining. How can I make her feel grateful and positive?

Gratitude (Shukr) is the path to loving Allah (swt). It is the cure for sadness and the motivation to do better tomorrow.

Sometimes we compare ourselves with others and complain of not having enough – we get trapped by Shaitan, whose primary mission is to make us ungrateful.

Here are some tips that can help your sister:

  • Talk to your sister to find out the reason for her ungratefulness; sometimes, people want to say things, but cannot express themselves positively.
  • Encourage your sister to keep a gratitude journal, where you can help her list down the blessings she has in her life.
