Fluids, fluids, fluids
Drink water, juices, or even chicken soup. It helps break up your congestion, makes your throat moist, and keeps you from getting dehydrated.
Breathe in steam
Hold your head over a pot of boiling water and breathe slowly through your nose. Be careful though. Don’t let the heat burn your nose. It will help loosen up your blocked nose.
Blow out
Avoid sniffing mucus back into your head. Blow out your nose as much as you can. Press a finger over one nostril gently while you blow to clear the other.
Gargle
Dissolve half a teaspoon of salt in 8 ounces of warm water. Gargle with this four times a day. To calm the tickle in your throat, try a gargle made from tea. Or use one that’s got honey in it.
Extra pillow
Do this at night when you sleep to help relieve congested nasal passages.
