Injustice is Darkness

July 4, 2017 /Posted byHiba - Content Team / 1621

Injustices damage one’s Taqwa and Iman, and later, sour relations. Here are a few reminders from the Quran and the Ahadeeth regarding justice:

“O you who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even though it be against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, be he rich or poor, Allah is a Better Protector to both (than you). So follow not the lusts (of your hearts), lest you may avoid justice, and if you distort your witness or refuse to give it, verily, Allah is Ever Well Acquainted with what you do.” (An-Nisa 4:135)

“O you who believe! Stand out firmly for Allah and be just witnesses and let not the enmity and hatred of others make you avoid justice. Be just: that is nearer to piety, and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Well Acquainted with what you do.” (Al-Maidah 5:8)

Abu Saeed (rtam) reported that the Messenger of Allah (sa) said: “When the believers are saved from the fire, they will be stopped on a bridge between the garden and the fire. They will be interrogated concerning the injustices which occurred between them in this world. When they have been cleansed and they have been disciplined, then they will be given permission to enter the garden. By the One who holds the soul of Muhammad in His Hand, one of them is better guided in his position than he was in this world.” (Bukhari)

It was narrated that Abdullah bin Amr (rtam) said: “It was said to the Messenger of Allah (sa): ‘Which of the people is best?’ He said: ‘Everyone who is pure of heart and sincere in speech.’ They said: ‘Sincere in speech, we know what this is, but what is pure of heart?’ He said: ‘It is (the heart) that is pious and pure, with no sin, injustice, rancour or envy in it.’” (Ibn Majah)

Jabir ibn Abdullah (rtam) reported that the Prophet (sa) said: “Fear injustice. Injustice will appear as darkness on the Day of Rising. Fear avarice. Avarice destroyed people before you and led them to shed one another’s blood and to make lawful what was unlawful for them.” (Muslim)

Prophet Muhammad (sa) said: “Beware of suspicion. Suspicion is the most untrue speech. Do not spy and do not eavesdrop. Do not compete with each other and do not envy each other and do not hate each other and do not shun each other. Be slaves of Allah, brothers.” (Malik)
