- Help around the house.
It sure is exhausting to do all the household chores. Share the load with your family. Divide the exhaustion, multiply the good deeds, and earn Duas from the elders! Gear up your faith by implementing this Sunnah in your life!
The Prophet (sa) said: “Cleanliness is half of faith…” (Muslim) The impact will surely help in your Ibadah, Insha’Allah.
- Give charity.
Utilize your time in emptying out those drawers and separate out articles for the needy. Make a conscious effort in giving away something that is of great value for you. Give for the sake of Allah (swt) and expect the reward from Him only. Do remember that even a smile is the simplest and easiest form of charity.
The Prophet (sa) said: “Allah, the Exalted, says: ‘Spend, O son of Adam, and I shall spend on you.’” (Bukhari and Muslim)
- Share your knowledge.
Maybe you have already decided which scholar’s lectures you will be listening to this month. That is great! First follow the advice yourself. Next, share at least one good point you learnt with your friends and family. Who knows – they may adopt the act in their lives. Do not miss the opportunity to secure the bonus.
The Prophet (sa) said: “Whoever guides (another) to a good deed will get a reward similar to the one who performs it.” (Muslim)
- Forgive others.
It is easier said than done. Walking the path towards forgiveness sure is difficult, but Allah’s (swt) rewards are abundant.
Ramadan is the month of mercy. Seek His help and guidance, while doing so.
- Perform Itikaf and pray extra in Laylat-ul-Qadr.
Allah (swt) says in the Quran: “The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months.” (Al-Qadr, 97:3)
Isolate yourself for Itikaf during the last ten days and make the most from the blessings. Make Allah (swt) your sole priority and worship sincerely. Supplicate and pray as much as you can.
The Prophet (sa) taught us the exclusive Dua for Laylat-ul-Qadr:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ كَرِيمٌ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي
“O Allah, indeed You are the Pardoning and the Generous; You love to pardon, so pardon me.” (Tirmidhi)
Recite it frequently to make the most of these fleeting last few days. May Allah (swt) give us the opportunity to do good deeds during this month and carry them on for the next eleven months too. Ameen.
