  1. Melissani Cave Lake

It is situated on an island of Kefalonia (Greece), and is surrounded by forests, mountains and sea. The colour of the lake is sky blue, and the stones found beneath the lake are brown. A variety of plant species are also found at the door of the cave. The lake which was founded in 1951 is undoubtedly the most beautiful natural lake of the world.

  1. Plitvice Lakes

They are found in Plitvice Lakes National Park which is situated in Croatia. It comprises sixteen lakes out of which 12 lakes are grouped as upper lakes, and the rest 4 are grouped as lower lakes. This oldest and largest national park of Croatia contains these beautiful cascaded lakes which reflect different colours as per their mineral content and sunlight.

  1. Yucatan Cave Lake

It is situated in Tiger Che in the Yucatan Peninsula, Northern Mexico, and is around 2 million years old. It is a famous tourist attraction with frozen fountains, dry riverbeds, underground spaces, and many more beautiful and worth discovering sights. The cave is made up of limestone.

  1. Lake Matheson

This is a glacial lake situated near the Fox Glacier. It is found in South Westland, New Zealand, and is surrounded by Mount Tasman and Mount Cook. The glacial lake which was formed some 14,000 years ago is home to a variety of flora and fauna including eels and water birds, and is surrounded by white and red pine trees.

  1. Peyto Lake

Located in Canada, this has a peculiar characteristic of turning bright green during the summer season which makes it all the more beautiful and worth seeing. This is a glacial lake, which looks best when seen from Bow Summit – the highest point on the Ice Field Parkway.
