Three Weirdest Plants

August 11, 2017 /Posted byHibakidz - Content Team / 1407
  1. Hydnellum Peckii

Hydnellum Peckii is an inedible (though not toxic) fungus. Its fruit bodies have been designed by Allah, the Al-Khaliq, to resemble “Danish pastry topped with strawberry jam”. Although not known to be poisonous, they are inedible, due to their extremely bitter taste.

  1. Psychotria Elata or Red Lip Plant

This tropical tree is found in the rainforests of America. Allah, the Al-Aleem, designed this brightly-coloured lip shape to attract such pollinators as hummingbirds and butterflies. However, it only looks like lips for a short while, until it spreads open to reveal flowers.

  1. The Jelly Ear

A species of edible fungus found worldwide. The fruiting body is designed by Allah, the Al-Mussavir, to resemble human ear-like shape. The common name “Judas’s ear” eventually became “Jew’s ear”, while today “jelly ear” and other names are sometimes used. This fungus can be found throughout the year worldwide, where it grows on both dead and living wood.
