The old lady who threw garbage on the Prophet (SA)
The great messenger, the final of all the messengers of Allah s.w.t brought goodness to all people, yet they found faults in him, calling him a magician and made fun of him. What did he do? Did he fight back? Did he call them a bigger name…No, He was silent, he was focused, and he kept on calling with a smile on his face.
He was the man who taught us forgiveness. He had forgiven so many who harmed him.
There was an old lady who constantly threw garbage at him when he passed through streets of her neighborhood in Makkah. What did he do? He ignored her for he knew she was an elderly lady and this is the time to ignore. He never said a word to her or complained to anyone else.
One day when the garbage was not thrown in his way, he decided to find out what exactly happened to the old lady, so the prophet entered her home after seeking permission. He asked the lady what was wrong and if she was sick. The lady was shocked that the same man whom I constantly insult, and this insulting was not by mere utterance of words it was not by drawing cartoons, it was by actually throwing defecation (faeces from animals and animal filth) at him. Something as dirty as it could be, throwing it on a man who is the most noble of all the creatures of Al Mighty, highest of all creations, the most noble of all the messengers. Look at his reaction. He kept praying for this woman and one day when the opportunity arose, what did he do? He seized it by the will of Allah swt such that she was surprised to see that Muhammad (pbuh) had come to inquire about her health and the way he found out about her sickness was because the evil that comes from her on regular basis did not come that day and she took Shahadah bearing witness that Muhammad is the last and final messenger from Allah swt.
How many of us are quickly angered when someone insults us without looking back at how prophet Muhammad (pbuh) dealt with it
He prayed for them
He continued his work making sure that he delivered the message the best way he could.
This was Muhammad (pbuh).
May peace and blessings be upon him.
And may we be among those who truly follow him, those who learn a lesson.
