O PHARAOHS OF OUR TIME

     O PHARAOHS OF OUR TIME

        BY KIRAN SHAH

Is this how you want your stories told, O Pharaohs of our time?

Beware of the Moses amongst this apartheid;

It’s not the first time, that babies are being killed,

It’s not the first time, innocent blood is spilt.

Is this how you want your stories told, O Pharaohs of our time?

Beware of the basket with little Moses inside.

It might be your time today, it was Pharaoh’s too once before,

But the thing about tyranny is, it has a very limited timeline.

Is this how you want your story told, is this really your plan?

Have you not read your own history of how this tyranny ends?

Your road to promised land, doesn’t look so promising to me,

It’s not the way of Prophets to dance on death of babies.

Is this how you want your story told, O Pharaohs of our time?

The Pharaoh you once ran from, you’ve gladly personified.

If this is your plan, I really pity you,

‘Cause where there is a Pharaoh, there is a Moses too.
